Frequently Asked Questions About Non-Profit Direct Mail Services

How much does one save with a nonprofit postage rate?

For the most common letter sized direct mailing, the nonprofit postage rate is about $0.228 each compared to the ordinary direct mail marketing mail at about $.0.385 each. Although it is a small difference, these significant postage savings add up with larger quantity mailings. Might as well save money and maximize your budget!

Do you have any non-profit fundraising letter samples?

Yes, fundraising non-profit letters are one of the many nonprofit mailing services we offer. To learn more, please check out our fundraising letter page. To see nonprofit samples, please check out our nonprofit sample page.

Is there a minimum quantity for a non-profit mailing campaign?

No there is no minimum for us to assist a nonprofit. However, it is important to note that nonprofits can send mail at the non-profit postage rate only if the quantity is at 200. Any quantity under 200, you’ll have to mail it at the retail first class postage rate for non-profit postcards, non-profit fundraising letters, and more. As long as you approve the total cost, we can assist 50 non-profit mailers or 50,000 non-profit mailers.

Is there a first class non-profit postage rate.

No, the discounted non-profit mailing rate is only available for marketing direct mail only! Marketing mailing is also known as “bulk” mail or standard mail. If you want to speed up the delivery, you’ll have to upgrade postage to first class at around $0.586 for letters & envelope, flyers, & brochures or $0.39 for postcards.

How can a nonprofit use a donor mailing list?

A nonprofit organization can use a donor mailing list to get access to highly-responsive donors who will have interest in their nonprofit. Specify geographical locations and genera demographics along with choosing households who have financially contributed to causes such as animal welfare, children, environment, political, etc.

What are common direct mail services that nonprofits can take advantage of?

Nonprofits commonly use direct mail services for direct mail fundraising campaigns targeting current donors, past donors, or prospective donors. We also assist nonprofits to send out marketing communication by mailing out custom remit envelopes, postcards, letters, & brochures to draw supporters to your organization or for the announcement of a new event. Direct mail is widely used for nonprofit organizations for both fundraising, notification and marketing purposes.

Can I send packages via non-profit mailing?

Yes. If your nonprofit direct mail package is 16 oz (1 lb) or less, you can mail packages via non-profit postage rate. There are some restrictions, so please contact us for details.

How long does it take for nonprofit mailer to arrive at the final destination?

Nonprofit direct mail marketing will arrive at its final destination in about 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the region. We can get you a more accurate time of delivery if you provide more details about your nonprofit direct marketing campaign.

Do I need a permit to mail nonprofit mailing?

Yes, a nonprofit permit is necessary for you to mail at the discounted nonprofit postage rate; however, you can simply send your mail using the Addressers’ nonprofit permit. A nonprofit permit has an annual fee, and there is no reason for you to pay for it every year. Your postage rate will be exactly the same when you use our permit.

What is the difference between a nonprofit authorization number vs a nonprofit permit?

A nonprofit authorization number is given to you once the USPS grants you qualification for the discounted non-postage rates. A nonprofit permit is required to send out nonprofit mailers to the post-office, but you can use the Addressers’ permit for no extra charge. Avoiding the permit application will save you both time and money!

What is the difference between a house file vs prospecting direct mail campaign?

A housefile or house file nonprofit mailing campaign is when a nonprofit targets established supporters for the nonprofit. In other words, you send out nonprofit mailers to current donors, volunteers, and any individuals who have expressed interest. A prospective or prospecting nonprofit direct marketing campaign is when a nonprofit attempts to form relationships and develop interests with households and individuals who are most likely to support that particular nonprofit, through donor mailing lists and consumer mailing lists.

Should I add my logo to the return address on the nonprofit envelope?

We recommend adding a logo to the return address for notification mailings, offers to current/old clients, or to recipients who are familiar with your company logo. We don’t recommend adding a return address logo for marketing letter mailing. Recipients may be turned off by seeing a business logo they don’t recognize. Without the logo, recipients have a higher chance of opening your letter marketing campaign based off of curiosity.

What are the most popular mailers nonprofits send out for their campaigns?

There is a large variety of nonprofit organization direct mailers that we send out on behalf of non-profits. This includes nonprofit letters and envelopes, nonprofit brochures, nonprofit postcards, nonprofit invitations for special events and tournaments, nonprofit newsletters, nonprofit business reply mailing, nonprofit donation mailers, nonprofit check mailing and more.

If you see it in your mailbox today, we can assist you with the non-profit direct mail campaign.

What is the best tip for nonprofits interested in direct mailers?

Outsource your campaign to a direct mail company. They’ll help you save time and money by helping you target the right audience, qualify for the nonprofit postage rate, and you can use their mailing permit for free. Experienced nonprofit mailing houses have the mailing list connections and in-house capabilities to help you cut costs.

Nonprofit Mailing Customer Reviews

best nonprofit mailing and printing service

Lung Cancer Foundation of America, Cindy Iker

Lung Cancer Foundation of America has been a customer of The Addressers Mailing Service since 2014. They do very high quality work and really get the job done for us! Especially since we ALWAYS slide in at the very last moment and ask them to get our job out ASAP! They've always come through!!

best nonprofit direct mail services

Spondylitis Association of America, Diann Peterson

My nonprofit organization sends 4 or 5 mass mailings per year and recently worked with Addressers for the first time. Our mailings aren’t terribly complicated but they do require a 3-point match (outer envelope, reply card, letter) and several pieces of personalization in addition to those. Lucy at Addressers got the concept from the get-go. Their quote was far below what I had been paying in the past and the turnaround was lightning fast. I was thoroughly satisfied with all aspects of the experience and am just about to use them again for my next mailing. Five stars all the way.

cheap nonprofit mailing solutions

The Climate Action Reserve, Sana Badalain

Working with Sameh, was such a great experience! He was fast, professional, and very helpful! The postcard was mailed out fast! This is the second year we use the Addressers service and will consider working with them next year as well for mailing out The Climate Action Reserve Annual conference postcards.

Immaculate Heart Community, Laura Seitz

Professional, responsive, hard-working and very accommodating. I highly recommend!

nonprofit fundraising direct mail

California Naturopathic Doctors Association, Kathy Konst

This is the third time I have used The Addressers and worked with Kent and Angelica. They make it soooo easy and professional. The work is great and the prices are in line or better than the comps. Thanks again for the excellent service!

Amanda Jones

I have been using Addressers for several years in my current fundraising position and at past non-profits, as well. The turn-around time for projects, both large and small, has been very quick, which has been very helpful with last minute orders. They have a lot of experience working with different materials, file types etc...whether you supply your own materials or use something in stock. I think the biggest benefit to using Addressers as opposed to an online service is the quality control and attention to detail - I don't think I seen any errors over the time I have partnered with them.

non-profit direct mail postcards

Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Adoptions, Heather Hohlowksi

This is a truly awesome mailing provider. They gave us a fast and competitive quote when we initially began our search for a mailhouse and have been responsive and helpful throughout our project. Kent and Donna were particularly helpful, as well as patient as we learned about the ins and outs of a bulk mailing for our nonprofit organization. I highly recommend Addressers for companies' mailing needs and we will be return customers for sure!
